Martha

My sister Martha passed away yesterday after her two year struggle with ovarian cancer. Her death is very sad for us, but a relief for her given her physical condition.

A friend said yesterday, "part of me is smiling knowing she's already planted a garden and painted a masterpiece in heaven" and it reminded me of the page in her sketchbook with a drawing of her dream house in heaven. The house is two thirds studio space and most of the rest is a greenhouse...  She has had a very rough past few weeks and knowing that she is in a better place is a comfort. She is already sorely missed, though.

I put together the video posted above a few weeks ago. Editing it created meaningful time for me to remember her and process her dying. She was able to see an unfinished version and was happy with it, which was really cool.

Thank you for the video, Ben. It's strange to be mourning your sister's passing into everlasting peace and comfort when I never knew her, but I have just been so moved and changed by reading her blog and getting to see into her walk with Christ. It's been incredible. I'm thankful she shared this whole journey with all - she has really glorified God and I wish I had met her....I will in heaven someday. Thinking of your whole family and praying for you as you miss having Martha in your lives. Megan B.

Ben,
Thank you for the video. I grew up with Martha in church at fourth pres. She was a wonderful person with a terrific sense of humor.
I am so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my prayers.

Thank you all for the things you have shared in this journey. I came across this blog because of interest in working in Haiti and my family and I have been really blessed by Martha,s courage and faith, Ben's pictures and the words written here and at Martha's blog. My sister's husband is now hospitalized at a low time in his cancer treatment and your journey gives us courage for this next one. Bruce from Ontario
