Meanwhile, heading out of Haiti...

We are not likely to be here for any of the drama looming on Haiti's horizon (not even for election monitoring this round). Ben left for North Carolina on Friday and I have a ticket on hold for Wednesday. Martha is at the end of her earthly life, which we know is a relief for her, but it's a pretty sad time for us and the rest of Ben's family so we'd appreciate whatever prayers, thoughts or energy you're willing to send up for us.

Oh, Lexi, we've been praying so much for Martha and for all of you, and we'll keep doing so. I'm glad you are both able to go and be together.

Ben and Lexi, I hope to go with my church on a short-term mission's trip to Haiti for a week in June. After the earthquake happened last year (I think it was then), I felt a desire to serve there.

So glad you and Ben are able to head back this way to be with Martha and the whole family at this time. You've all been in our thoughts and prayers. Martha is such a courageous woman! Megan

I have been following your blog since the EQ last year, and then followed Martha's blog when prompted from your blog. She has been an amazing example for me of living out life to the end with courage and transparency. May God meet you and your family this week. I will be praying for you all.

As someone who has lived in Haiti off and on for the past 14 years, I greatly enjoy reading your blog about your adventures in Haiti, and your view on current events, culture, life, etc.

As a woman with terminal breast cancer, I have been so blessed by your link to Martha's site. Her view of dying has been so inspirational to me, and has made me contemplate what my attitude will be when/if I ever have a recurrence.

Dying is such a very personal thing - not only for the one who is going through it but also for the family. Thank you for linking to her on your site and for allowing me to be changed by what I have read on Martha's site. What a gift you have given me.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you say your final goodbye's to your amazing sister and lay her to rest. You must all be so very proud of her.
